Global Month of Solidarity: Picket at BIG in Goiânia (Brazil)

The Federação das Organizações Sindicalistas Revolucionárias do Brasil (FOB) supports the Global Month of Solidarity. As part of which workers organized with FOB picketed in front of a BIG store in Goiânia on August 15th.

This statement was released:

On August 15, FAT/FOB-Goiás carried out an international solidarity action at the entrance of the BIG hypermarket that represents the Walmart Network in Brazil. The objective of the action was to denounce the illegal dismissal of 6,000 workers from the Dragon Sweater factory in Bangladesh in the context of the Pandemic, the workers were fired arbitrarily and neither their full wages nor compensations were paid.

The factory produces clothing for several brands such as New Yorker, Rede Walmart and Lidl, in Brazil the only brand that operates is Rede Walmart, which in recent years has come to be called Grupo BIG, all of which profit from exploitation of workers and were indifferent to the case of illegal dismissal of workers in Bangladesh.

In the face of this serious attack on workers in Bangladesh, global actions have been called for by the CIT (International Labor Confederation) and the Global May Day to take place throughout the month of August/September by independent grassroots unions.

FAT/FOB-Goiás, defending its principle of international solidarity of the workers, joined the call for global actions and shows solidarity with the fired workers at Dragon Sweater and also denounces the Walmart Network in Brazil (Grupo Big) for being convenient with the illegal dismissal of 6 thousand workers.

All solidarity to the fired workers of the Dragon Sweater factory!

For a campaign to boycott the Walmart Network (Big Group) until the workers are readmitted and have their wages paid!
